Preventive Measures of Cough Allergy

A very common affliction, the common cold accompanied with coughing, is the most prevalent cause of sickness in the world. Over a billion cases are diagnosed every year, just in the U.S. Fortunately, one of the most annoying symptoms, the coughing, is easy to cure. Yet coughing on a constant basis is a cause of concern and is indicative of some type of illness. As a matter of fact, continuous coughing is due to allergies and asthma.

Certain people show a level of hypersensitivity to certain substances which are usually harmless. This is known as allergy-triggered cough. Common substances which cause allergic cough include pollen, animal dandruff, dust, cigarette or tobacco smoke, occupational dusts and mold.

During coughing bouts, the airways get irritated as a result of allergies and may also result in postnasal drip. In this, nasal secretions drain down the back of the nose into the throat, which results in coughing due to irritation of the airways and trachea.

Yet another cause of coughing is allergic asthma. During this condition, our immune system responds to the inhaled allergens resulting in an asthma attack followed by shortness of breath, chest tightness and wheezing. Moreover, relief from asthma can be achieved by avoiding contact with triggering allergens. This can prove to be beneficial along with proper medications.

Though allergy cough is relatively harmless, it can be disturbing, resulting in interrupted sleep, sore throat, and difficulty in breathing. Careful diagnosis will go a long way in assuaging and treating allergy cough.
